bbc.co.uk/reel/video/p0g… Fascinating five minute documentary from BBC on the Tower of Hercules - the world's oldest lighthouse. It has been beacon of light and guidance for over 2,000 years and allegedly Ireland was discovered from the top of the tower by Íth, son of Breogán...!

This is an “early bird” on the Kerlogue exhibition, which will open at the Maritime Museum in late May. This will commemorate unparalleled heroism when the crew of the Wexford vessel rescued 168 German sailors from Biscay in late December 1943. We will keep you informed.

Cormac Louth’s lecture last Tuesday, entitled “The History of Lifeboats in Dublin Bay”, was a great success! Cormac recounted some of the history of the heroic rescues carried by the lifeboats since their amalgamation into the RNLI in 1862. RNLI #lifeboat #maritime #museum
