Yesterday, the 🇳🇱 Ambassador designate to #Somalia met with the UN DSRSG, Resident & Humanitarian Coordinator 🇺🇳 George Conway to discuss the political and security situation in Somalia 🇸🇴 and reviewed the #Netherlands’ contributions to development 🌍 and humanitarian efforts 🤝.

Yesterday, Dutch Ambassador Henk Jan Bakker presented his letters of credence to H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia. Ambassador Bakker is looking forward to more visits to Somalia and continuing the good cooperation between the two countries.

Disinformation, inequality, and shrinking civic space threatens democracy worldwide. On the International Day of Democracy we reaffirm the importance of free choice and citizen participation. Democracy thrives when human rights are upheld and no one is excluded.
