Today the new 🇳🇱 Cabinet of Prime Minister Dick Schoof was sworn in by HM The King, with one familiar face. The new Minister of Foreign Affairs as of today is Caspar Veldkamp, who was our Ambassador from 2015-2019. We wish him all the best & hope to see him in Athens again soon!

The events of 17 July 2014 have left deep scars. 298 innocent people, amongst whom 196 Dutch nationals, lost their lives when flight MH17 was downed. Today, 10 years later, I join the loved ones of the victims in remembrance. The years pass, but the enormous loss remains. 1/2

From day one, the Netherlands has done all it can to uncover the events leading up to this disaster. Throughout the years, we have been committed to pursuing truth, justice and accountability, together with other affected countries. We will continue these efforts. 2/2

Today, on July 17, we commemorate the #MH17 tragedy, in which 298 innocent lives, including 196 Dutch citizens, were lost. Ten years on, the grief remains profound. The Netherlands remains determined to seek truth, justice, and accountability for the downing of Flight MH17.

A citizenship ceremony is always a special moment for an Embassy. This morning Deon Eksteen, accompanied by his wife, made the official pledge in Dutch in which he promised to respect the freedoms & rights that come with 🇳🇱 nationality. Gefeliciteerd Deon! 🥂

Our thoughts are with those affected by the fires near Athens, and the brave firefighters working tirelessly. May the flames be quelled soon, and may the affected communities find strength & support during this challenging time. 🙏🏻🇬🇷
