The violence against protesters and journalists, and the arrests of politicians in #Georgia are unacceptable. That is why the Netherlands will call on the EU to suspend its visa-free arrangements with Georgia. I welcome the Baltic initiative to impose individual travel bans. 1/2

Looking back on a productive OSCE Ministerial Council in Malta. Since the beginning of the organisation, the Netherlands attaches great importance to its work. Even more so today: there has rarely been a time when Europe needed more security and cooperation. #OSCEMC24 1/4

My intervention focused on four key issues: our unwavering support for #Ukraine against Russian aggression, support for the peace process between Armenia-Azerbaijan, the situation in Georgia and condemnation of the violence there, and the importance of combating antisemitism. 2/4

I also participated in a side-event with Ukrainian civilians who were unlawfully detained by Russia. Their stories made a deep impression. All civilians must be immediately released and returned by Russia, including the three OSCE employees in captivity. #OSCEMC24 3/4

Finally, with 57 participating countries and 11 partners, the OSCE provides a good opportunity for diplomacy. It was a pleasure to meet with my colleagues from Türkiye and Israel, among others. Thank you Ian Borg for hosting this year's #OSCEMC24. 4/4

Yesterday, at the initiative of the Netherlands, 38 OSCE participating States invoked the Vienna Mechanism to express deep concerns about the violence against and repression of protesters, journalists, and politicians in #Georgia. Fundamental freedoms must be respected. 1/2
