revisiting this bc it made me think of the potential Black classic movies that never got made and got stuck on the page bc of all the white ppl we have to go through in this business to get anything made. luckily John had an insane amount of drive and USC film school connections

Let's also remember this determination was also steeped in a version of the same systemic racism, exclusion and perceived lack of skill and craftsmanship many writers of color still experience today bc white people don't know or understand our lives like we HAVE to know theirs.
