Up for the Outstanding Clinical Team this evening at #GSA24 we have… Maternity Triage at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby, Bereavement Midwives at HRI, and the Community Dental Service, North & North East Lincolnshire

And it’s the Bereavement Midwives from HRI who get the accolade of Outstanding Clinical Team at #GSA24 👏

Our next award of the night is a very special one indeed, as it’s nominated for and chosen by patients and their loved ones. It’s The Healthcare Heroes Award at #GSA24 sponsored by Listers Group

Next up we have two personal awards – first up to reveal the winner of the Chief Executive’s Award, we have Jonathan Lofthouse back on stage. This award is sponsored by Knowles Fleet #GSA24

Chosen from our Shining Lights scheme, our winners of the Chief Executive’s Award at #GSA24 went the extra mile to put a smile on a patient’s face on their birthday.

Ellie Laughton, Staff Nurse and Gillian Downs, Nursing Assistant from Hull Outpatients knew their patient was recently widowed with no close family or friends and they had tried to offer a range of support services before which he declined.

They surprised him with a birthday card, a balloon and a cream cake which they presented to him on arrival at the Phlebotomy clinic. Not only did it make his day, but it opened up a discussion about his loneliness.

Later that day, Ellie stayed late at work to call the patient to offer a referral for social prescribing which, having gained his trust, he accepted. This act of kindness exemplifies some of the amazing staff we have working in our organisation. Congratulations Ellie and Gill!

Our penultimate award this evening comes from Chairman Sean Lyons. He’s chosen to recognise someone who supports the people who support us all.

Our hospitals would be lost without our army of volunteers, and in recent years we’ve seen our numbers swell, helping some to pass their time meaningfully and others to gain invaluable experience for an exciting healthcare career ahead.

Our final award this evening at #GSA24 is a very special one indeed, it’s the Lifetime Achievement Award. Dorothy Gilchrist, Dr Mark Higson and Mr Michael Cowen are our three finalists in this one.

In recognition of over 12 years' service to HUTH, NLaG and now the Group, we're paying tribute to Lee Bond, who was until last week our Group Chief Finance Officer, with his own Golden Star Award. Very well deserved!
