#OTD 250 years ago John Reeves (1774-1856), the English naturalist and Inspector of Teas for the East India Company, was born.
Today, we start a new collaboration with UCL Information Studies for 5 Digital Humanities students to catalogue and digitise our Reeves botanical artwork collection.

Nature’s pitfall trap, the #PitcherPlant . Such intriguing plants. Frederick William Burbidge (1847-1905) captured their architectural beauty during his expedition to Borneo in 1877-8. #WorldCarnivorousPlantDay #DigitisedCollections

Today is #InternationalDanceDay 🩰
Have you got your dance card ready?
Ours is from the HMS #Challenger expedition (1872-76).

Doing some tidying at my Mum’s place and came across a stash of old random photos. They included two of what might have been my first trip to Natural History Museum in 1978 (judging from the age of my sister plus questionable clothing choices) in the old dino gallery with Dippy
Some good news for NHM Library and Archives. We have an exciting year ahead, with lots of big projects, and this will really accelerate our work.
Exciting news! 🌟 1000 sites are on the #EducationNaturePark map! Each glowing dot represents a school, nursery, or college championing wildlife, connecting to nature and learning new skills. Want to join them? Get involved 👇 educationnaturepark.org.uk
