Our Presidential team Aled Jones NFU Cymru & Abi Reader today met with Welsh Government Rural Affairs Huw Irranca-Davies. A timely opportunity to discuss crucial issues within the industry, including bovine TB, water quality regulations, progress on the SFS and the agricultural budget. These are critical times.
"We always welcome anybody who wants to do any research into bTB, but we must not play around with people's lives. Robust science is what's needed." Abi Reader discusses our concerns ahead of a bovine TB documentary due to air tonight. The NFU has also written to the BBC.
Our member Llลทr Derwydd ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ hosted an on-farm meeting with Claire Hughes this week. Great to have the opportunity to discuss issues such as bovine TB, Avian Influenza, energy, connectivity and the agricultural budget. Diolch yn fawr iawn i Claire am ddod draw i'r ffarm.
We had a great day at Llanfair Show over the weekend. During the day we took the opportunity to meet with Steve Witherden MP, who is part of the NFU's new Food and Farming Fellowship Scheme. Good to have a discussion about the latest issues impacting the sector.
We had a good turnout for our Clwyd county meeting on Mathew Roberts's farm in Holywell last night. Matthew gave a farm tour where he discussed his farming system, his recently reseeded clover lay and his Angus cattle. Livestock Board Chair, Rob Lewis, also gave members an update.
Llongyfarchiadau/Congratulations to the NFU team of three, Rhodri prys jones, Jemma and Siwan, who took on Bala triathlon last weekend to raise money and awareness for the The DPJ Foundation. They came 5th overall ๐ Gallwch gyfrannu at yr achos fan hyn โก๏ธ justgiving.com/page/teamnfuctโฆ
