It is not #tbt yet but want to throwback to my biggest takeaways and lessons learned from the CCA Summit panel on Business and Philanthropy. 1/4

1st just to remind which corporates participated: Johnson and Johnson, Visa, P&G, World Food Programme, Barclays Bank and the U.S. Africa Development Foundation.

The topic centered on What is Purposeful Corporate Social Responsibility and how do potential stakeholders and granted participate in these new collaboration models.

The first lesson I learned is most corporations on the panel saw themselves as catalytic funders, meaning they want to enable something to grow at a faster rate and then be sustained on its own.

As an example J&J has a really cool community health model called Unjani clinics in South Africa, where they train mostly women to provide health services that they are able to charge for that has created long-term impact in many communities without access.

Another example of this type of catalyst funding was Barclays Bank Mozambique funding an incubator to promote entrepreneurship and test new ideas that could potential need funding and access to financial services.
