Today the North Carolina Sheriffs' Association hosted sheriffs from across North Carolina for a meeting to discuss the future Sheriffs' Executive Assistants' Institute. Sheriffs' executive assistants perform important duties that are unique to the Office of Sheriff.

Sheriff Curtis Brame of Vance County (left) received his Advanced Service Award today from the North Carolina Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission. Sheriff Brame has served in law enforcement for 44.5 years, serving as sheriff of Vance County since 2018.

Sheriffs and sheriffs’ office personnel, Association staff, local law enforcement and state government officials attended a news conference today where Attorney General Josh Stein announced the elimination of North Carolina’s backlog of untested sexual assault kits.

The North Carolina Sheriffs' Association's annual Spring Meeting has come to a close! This meeting is an annual opportunity for North Carolina sheriffs and sheriffs' personnel to attend training classes and collaborate with their fellow law enforcement professionals.

Sheriffs and sheriffs' personnel from across the state welcomed General Assembly members back last night in Raleigh for the 2024 Short Session which officially began on Wednesday, April 24th.

Today's horrific murder of three members of the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force and the wounding of five additional officers is an outrageous tragedy. This incident is an example of the extreme danger that law enforcement officers face every day while serving our communities.

Today, North Carolina’s annual Peace Officers Memorial Service was held in Statesville, NC. Sheriffs and sheriffs’ office personnel, local and state law enforcement officials, and Association staff attended the service along with many others to honor our state’s fallen heroes.

This past week, Alamance Co. Sheriff Terry Johnson presented Deputy Joseph Care with the agency’s Lifesaving Award. On April 20 Deputy Care responded to a call for an unconscious person where he performed CPR until EMS arrived and helped save the victim's life! Great job, deputy!
