Incredible storms over Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia. While we see lightning somewhere on Earth every night pass, it’s not as common to see one this active.

Memorial Day is a time for each of us to honor and remember in our own way. For some, it’s gathering with friends for a barbecue on a sunny day; for others, it’s a grueling workout to pay tribute to the fallen; and for many, it’s a quiet day of reflection. There’s no single way

I have learned a lot about sprites lately … like that there is a bit of a cult following amongst those who try to capture them! NASA Earth Observation’s Sara Schmidt writes about what a sprite is, and why it is difficult to photograph. Check it out: earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/153422/…

My two best Starship photos from space station. Left shows flight 6 launch over Starbase. Right is the flight 8 exhaust trail and debris field after breakup in orbit.

We’ve been doing quite a bit of maintenance after the departure of the last cargo vehicle! I’m always amazed by the level of forethought and planning that goes into maintaining the International Space Station. Our engineers on the ground have to be creative enough to anticipate how

How do we do human research in space? The same way our doctor would on Earth – lab tests. We routinely draw our own blood, centrifuge and freeze the samples, then return them on a cargo vehicle (kept frozen in powered cargo freezers). Scientists can look at biomarkers and cell

The Sun has been pretty active over the last week, which means some phenomenal auroras! The geomagnetic storm that lasted through this weekend did not disappoint. Our current orbit takes us right by the Southern Lights at night. Here are a few of my favorites!

Auroras from space always draw crewmembers to the Cupola. I love how this one illuminated our Dragon, and I also love the dance of satellites on the left in the latter part of the video. It’s interesting how the aurora creeps along the top of the atmosphere as it comes up over
