You hear a lot about Europa, Io, Ganymede...but what about Jupiter's other moons?
The #JunoMission captured the tiny potato-shaped moon Amalthea. At the time the first image was taken, Juno was about 165,000 miles (265,000 km) above Jupiter’s cloud tops. go.nasa.gov/3QGnudG
#JunoMission is preparing for its next close encounter with Jupiter this weekend.
This image, taken during a close flyby of Jupiter's volcanic moon Io on April 9, shows the first-ever views of the moon's south polar region. go.nasa.gov/3UzJYyg
How does a black hole eat?
The Andromeda Galaxy, our cosmic neighbor, is fed by rivers of galactic dust that flow into the supermassive black hole at its center.
This tasty treat dropped just in time for #BlackHoleWeek . go.nasa.gov/3wjhjW9
#TrackingWorldWater to improve flood predictions? Add it to SWOT's resume!
Scientists now have a new tool to precisely measure water heights around the world, information that can help improve forecasts of when and where floods occur. Learn more: go.nasa.gov/4b4EuT9
Moving a 6,000-pound spacecraft is tricky, like when we maneuvered NASA Europa Clipper into JPL's thermal vacuum chamber, where teams simulated the conditions it will experience in space.
Up next: Moving the spacecraft from our California clean room to NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
It's official: Europa Clipper's vault plate has been installed onto the spacecraft before it heads to NASA's Kennedy Space Center later this month.
Can you see that microchip on the vault plate? That's YOU!
🔴 Join us NOW for a live audio chat from the NASA Europa Clipper clean room - our last live chat before the spacecraft ships to NASA's Kennedy Space Center later this month. We're learning more about the vault plate design and its recent installation! bit.ly/clippercam
Do you recognize this “horse’s mane” in space? 🐴
NASA Webb Telescope recently captured the sharpest infrared images of this portion of the iconic Horsehead Nebula to date, revealing small-scale structures along the nebula’s edge.
