One of the upsides of admitting these babies is that we can often return them to the wild fairly quickly because it is sometimes possible to place them with a Canada goose foster family. Geese are good like that! Ducks not so much. 📷: Carolina Ramone

These are the survivors of a Canada goose family who were trying to make it work near Newtown Creek in Bushwick. They were wandering an industrial area with no access to water or vegetation. One parent had already been hit and killed by a car. 🎥: Tristan Higginbotham, Rachel Frank

Members of our staff were able to rescue the 6 goslings and remaining parent during 2 separate attempts. Despite our very limited space during this peak season, the family is safe, well fed and getting time in the pool. We’re treating them all for bumblefoot.

Congrats to this Mallard mother who kept her large brood of ducklings safe and mostly hidden for two weeks until they grew larger. Today she and the remaining ten were in action on Central Park's Turtle Pond. 🦆 ❤️
