Despite catastrophic governance from time to time - something we are familiar with in the United States - A trip to Canada always thrills me. The ancestral Dominion reminds me of what my ancestors went through, and so I spires me.

Cabmen's shelters were created in 1875 by the Cabmen's Shelter Fund to provide food and drink to hackney carriage drivers without them resorting to pubs. There were originally 61 in London, and the Embankment shelter at Charing Cross is one of 13 that still survive.

2/ what most galls me about the second image is that EVERY look on EVERY face is a flirty innuendo-laden "we gonna smash?" it'd be bad enough if it was just two characters off to one side It'd be worse if they were two women or two men ...but in this image EVERY SINGLE

Maybe a bigger conversation here about information design in RPGs? The more accessible your rules are (at table, during play), the more they're going to be remembered and used regularly. OSR games like OSE & Shadowdark get this. But there's a greater need with heavier systems.

Stay-Buft Marshmallow Man: Viktor Gorchev Information design in rpgs is a really interesting topic for me...wish there was more discussion around it. Kind of assumes that writers have to be graphic designers (or design adjacent), though, which is probably a pretty good idea.

Kris H. Stay-Buft Marshmallow Man: Viktor Gorchev I think of it like information architecture: The right detail at the right time delivered in the right way for the right person. The challenging bit is that one person becomes a different person depending on how they've interacted with the book before. There's the initial read

With the release of the video game Mafia: The Old Country, it made want to go back and revisit the original three Mafia games. However, I've always had this idea for a mafia campaign for some time now. And so, thanks to Dr Clingman and td10.org, I will soon be starting another

Apparently farmers are planting Mallee and other Eucalypts to fix degraded and saline farmland and kickstart an oil industry. We only export 5% of global supply wtf? It's mostly Indonesia and the US supplying eucalyptus oil

Jan van Kessel the Elder, a descendant of the Brueghels, was a meticulous chronicler of the natural world. Here’s his ‘Insects & a Sprig of Rosemary’ (1653), where you’ll find butterflies, a bumblebee, beetles, a moth & a cockchafer, with realistic shadows (NGA, Washington)

Oaks carry meaning. But in William Blake’s day, during the Napoleonic Wars, millions of oaks were felled. The full canopy of a mature tree, therefore, spoke of lost, peaceful times. Pollarded oaks, too, were humanity in harmony with nature and itself: oaks used but not wasted.
