Grant Elementary School had "Field Day" on Wednesday. The afternoon was devoted to outdoor water activities. Let's just say the students (and the staff) had a blast! Most of them left drenched and covered in colored powder. Two days of school remain for students.

MCSD held a party for its 2024-25 retirees Wednesday at the Rendezvous Banquet Facility & Catering. We had 15 retirees attend along with their family members and school personnel. This year's retiring class had a combined total of 563 years of service to MCSD. Thank you!

Muscatine's girls soccer team opened 3A regional play Wednesday with a 1-0 win over Dubuque Hempstead. The Muskies (11-1-3) received a first-half goal from Tatiana Lopez to beat the Mustangs for the second time this season. MHS plays at Linn-Mar in a regional final Friday.

Muscatine baseball beats Washington this evening, moves to 3-0 on the season. Muskies open MAC play tomorrow night at North Scott.

Muscatine sophomore Rylee Brockhouse is tied for 10th place after the opening round of the Class 4A girls state golf meet at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City. Rylee opened with a 5-over par 77 on Thursday, nine shots back of the leader. She had four birdies in her round.

Madison held a Color Run around its school Thursday for all students to celebrate its final Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Students were showered with color powder as they ran, walked or jogged around the course. They enjoyed shaved ice afterward.

Jefferson Elementary had its "Field Day" Thursday. Students thoroughly enjoyed the Foam Machine along with other outdoor activities as the school year wraps up Friday.

Muscatine softball opens the season with a 5-3, 13-0 doubleheader sweep at Davenport North. Pitcher Skylar Peterson strikes out 19 in the two games, including a no-hitter in the nightcap. #iahssb

Construction for the new gymnasium and wrestling room at Susan Clark Junior High is coming right along. Scoreboards are up in the gym. Wrestling mats should be down in the next week or two. It will be a state-of-the-art facility for our junior high students and community.

For the second straight year, Muscatine sophomore Rylee Brockhouse finished in the top 10 at the 4A state golf meet. Rylee followed her first-round 77 with a 76 Friday to conclude 10th place. She's the first Muskie since Paige Miller ('18) to have back-to-back top 10s at state.

Muscatine High School Rugby concluded its first season Friday with a home scrimmage against Quad City Rugby. Muscatine prevailed 19-5 and 33-10. Muscatine recognized its six seniors between matches -- Neco Arceo, Adam Fulscher, Chale Lewis, Max Boeka, Kai Gomez & Calin Duggan.
