Landlords exploit tenants to accumulate wealth. Jacking up rents beyond their true value is a form of economic exploitation. Blatant profiteering in a cost of living crisis. How does this happen? Landlords have ‘power’, tenants have none. #HousingCrisis #auspol24

Workers through their unions win the industrial, economic, political & public debates. Though we can’t always win the headline The media have an agenda to silence our voices. They want you to believe that democracy doesn’t work Join your union & show that it does✊ #union

Housing. It’s so we can create a home. A sanctuary. A safe place to sleep, to grow and to live. To raise children & build happy memories. Not for profit. Not for wealth. Not only for the rich. #Auspol2024 #HousingCrisis #NegativeGearing #memories

Productivity is output per worker per hour worked. Productivity is improved through workers' skills, technology change & management practices. Eroding workers rights & protections is about ideology & profit, not productivity. #auspol #unions theaustralian.com.au/commentary/edi…

New research from Centre for Future Work shows Australia COULD manufacture wind towers, turbines, and equipment: creating thousands of jobs, supporting a domestic green steel industry, and avoiding emissions from imported towers. futurework.org.au/report/an-indu… It just needs an industry plan.

The evil, selfish & greedy ideology of the H.R Nichols Society is being resurrected by the Liberal Party. The silver-spooners claimed birth right - to rule over the rest of us - is leaking back into politics. Strong #unions are their greatest fear. theaustralian.com.au/nation/politic…

I’ve boarded the Qantas plane to Karratha to visit The AMWU members in WA. But there’s a water leak. The Qantas engineer has grounded the plane. Our members make sure every single plane is safe to fly. No more delays - it’s time for fair pay. #safety #qantas

BREAKING NEWS: Federal Government uses public money to fund publicly owned TAFE. Imagine that. #skills #apprenticeships #feefreetafe

Simple mathematics $331 billion for 7 nuclear power plants = $47.3 billion for each one This will drive up our power bills It will destroy our local industries It will deny workers in our energy regions a secure future This is a dangerous distraction abc.net.au/news/2024-12-1…

Steve Murphy ✊ (@murphy_steve) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The Dutton nuclear announcement is a disaster It models data for less electricity usage across the economy Modernising & growing our industries means electricity usage must go up This is a plan for Australia’s manufacturing industries to be closed down #Auspol2024 #nuclear

Steve Murphy ✊ (@murphy_steve) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The CSIRO has found the cost of electricity generated from nuclear reactors by 2040 would be about $145-$238 per MWh Solar is $22-$53 Wind is $45-$78 Nuclear power would make electricity between 2 & 10 times more expensive Who pays for that?

Steve Murphy ✊ (@murphy_steve) 's Twitter Profile Photo

What is Dutton’s nuclear plan: Higher prices Less local industry Lower household income This is a dangerous plan that hurts workers. #nuclear #auspol2024 theguardian.com/australia-news…

Steve Murphy ✊ (@murphy_steve) 's Twitter Profile Photo

It’s astounding how quickly those who attain privilege, position and power turn on the workers. Workers have a right to withdraw their labour and to demand a fairer deal. ⁦ Wtf ⁦Chris Minns⁩ ⁦Jo Haylen MP⁩ ? smh.com.au/politics/nsw/s…

Steve Murphy ✊ (@murphy_steve) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Peter Dutton’s nuclear proposal is based upon a 40% reduction in electricity consumption by 2050. 40% less consumption is the same as unplugging both Victoria & WA from electricity. The maths don’t add up. The report is nonsense. Nuclear: Too late Too expensive Too dangerous

Our PM Anthony Albanese has committed $2.4billion to save blue collar jobs at #Whyalla Steel This isn’t about bailing out a business, it’s about securing workers’ future Good Labor governments should have workers’ backs We can now think about the future, and not worry about the past

Steve Murphy ✊ (@murphy_steve) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Good Labor government should have workers’ backs - thanks Anthony Albanese Workers aren't wondering how long they've got, but instead how bright their futures can be We now have a clearer pathway to green steel and a strong future for our communities abc.net.au/news/2025-02-2…

We cannot let the chaos around US trade policy destroy investment pipelines to secure Australia iron, steel & aluminium jobs We have projects underway right now where Australian steel & aluminium can be used If we don’t make it here, now is the time to be asking why not #auspol

If multi-billionaire Clive Palmer can afford to interfere in the election by spending: • $4,200,000 on YouTube ads and • $5,400,000 on free to air ads it’s a reasonable conclusion that he can afford to pay more tax. #auspol #ElectionIntegrity #Election2025 #TaxBillionaires
