Many thanks to Donald Erskine for interviewing me in today’s The Herald about Glasgow City Heritage Trust and how Glasgow must learn from its past to move forward. If you are interested you can read all about it here 👀👇😉👍!

- had a great visit with the Glasgow City Heritage Trust team to The Briggait to see the repairs Wasps Studios are carrying out with some GCHT grant funding (amongst others) and ❤️ this photograph they took of us with the Merchant Steeple in the background 😊!

Just chatting to Kevin Morrison about his Glasgow City Centre War Walk for the 80th anniversary of D-Day in June. If you want to find out more about Kevin’s walking tours, and what was like in June 1944, here’s the poster all about them and how to book your space 👀👇👍!

in : This is Alexander Nisbet Paterson’s superb patriotic doorcase for the National Bank of Scotland in St Enoch Square with its ‘In Patriam fidelis’ motto. The Thistle capitals in the bronze gates are a lovely touch. Such a shame this is lying empty 😢!

A mere two evenings later and normal service has resumed 👀👇☔️🤦‍♂️! Gotta love the weather which is why I remind people that we live in a temperate rain forest 😂👍!

It’s raining, it’s pouring and it’s a yellow storm warning🥺 ☔️! Therefore ⁦Glasgow City Heritage Trust⁩ have reluctantly decided to cancel our Buchanan Street walking tour at 6:30pm today. Apologies to all the attendees and we will reschedule for June…😊😉👍!

in : a tweet yesterday about the India Buildings block reminded me of architect John Gordon’s hidden dome and wacky brickwork chimneys to the Savings Bank at 63-67 Bridge Street in Laurieston - not in great shape but a nice bit of Victorian ingenuity 👇🤗!

in : You’ve got to love the long spring days here. Look at the deep blue of the sky and the contrast with the sun warmed red and blonde sandstone buildings of Bell Street, the architecture of which is inspired by Chicago, Paris and Florence 🥰!

in : Looks like it’s going to be a lovely day so let’s start it with the sunrise stained glass window tucked within a starburst mosaic and a rainbow arch all of which can be found on the former Bedford Cinema now the O2 Academy on Eglinton Street 🌞🌈🥰!

in : Caught in the gloaming, the way the Hielanman's Umbrella slides across Argyle Street… You can sense it’s great weight and the work it is doing and yet it appears so effortless especially the dainty pilasters and trusses supporting the glass roof 🥰!

This comes with a trigger warning but if you want to know what life was like living under John Brownlee’s cruel regime in the The Edinburgh Academy’s Dundas House, listen to this morning’s episode of Nicky Campbell’s podcast Different 👂👇 It’s not pleasant…

in : Funny to stumble across a 1988 edition of the Glaswegian with a column about the Italian Centre: “…the first centre of its type in Europe” Heady days when Glasgow set the pace! Where are the Classical House developers of today to do the equivalent 🤔?

in : Nice to be able to have a brief glimpse inside Hugh & David Barclay’s Abbotsford Place School of 1879. It still has its galleried atrium so have a look at the fretwork ventilator in the skylight with its William Morris-like pomegranate motif 👀👇🥰!

Bit late for but we have just brought the kittens down to our boat so this is the first time Luna and Skyla have ventured into the outside world. Wee Poppy is keeping a watchful eye out on proceedings in case there’s any kitty naughtiness 🥰😺🐈!
