We launched the Innovation Lab, a new platform bringing gov’t, partners, the private sector, & refugee communities together to co-create practical solutions for refugee employment. A key milestone in advancing the Makatet Roadmap & promoting inclusive, sustainable opportunities.

Discussed with refugee donor groups how funding cut is severely affecting the refugee response in Ethiopia—straining essential services, slowing inclusion efforts & limiting support for the most vulnerable. We stressed that urgent, predictable & flexible funding is needed now.

The General Assembly elects Barham Salih as new UN HC for Refugees (UNHCR) for a 5 yr term, effective 1 Jan. 2026. A new chapter of leadership for the global refugee response. Despite funding challenge to the global refugee response, Refugees and Returnees Service - RRS wishes him success in his tenure.

Today, RRS hosted a 🇸🇸 delegation from the Commission of Refugee Affairs. Discussions covered RRS’ mandate, the Maktaet Roadmap & approaches to refugee registration & documentation. This move will help strengthen cooperation & foster experience sharing between the two entities.

Today the EU Ambassador met with HE Teyiba Hassen, Director General of the Refugees and Returnees Service. We have reaffirmed our commitment to support provision of life saving assistance and advancing refugees inclusion in Ethiopia.

We express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for the European Union’s generous support. Today, we handed over four fully equipped ambulances to three refugee‑hosting Woredas and Assosa General Hospital.

We conducted a three-day mission to Melkadida in collaboration with UNHCR Ethiopia, IFC Africa & Fayda - Ethiopian National ID. During the mission, we observed the issuance of Fayda Digital IDs for both hosts & refugees. We also visited various development projects implemented by SEE & SAHEL.
