Statement from Jess Pather - Headteacher

As part of #BiologyWeek our KS3 pupils got hands-on with DNA by making their own 3D paper DNA models. This allowed them to explore the structure that makes up the iconic double-helix shape of Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) that makes us all who we are.

Excellent work by MsZShah and the Science department Lea Manor High School. Students really enjoyed the activity and were talking about it during my English class!

Science Club got involved with #BiologyWeek this week where they extracted DNA from a Strawberry! By crushing the fruits in a special mix of water, salt, alcohol, and fairy liquid, pupils were able to separate the DNA out, and even grab it with tweezers

As part of #BritishScienceWeek our Year 9 Scientists attended a STEM workshop at uniofbeds They explored various engineering activities, including 3D & cyanotype printing. They also examined the connection between psychology, virtual reality, and reaction time.

For #BritishScienceWeek we hosted a Carousel of Evolution This exhibit showcased items from the past to show pupils how much technology has evolved & how some of the items they use every day used to be like back in the day. How many of our old items do you recognise & remember?
