After a whirlwind of a week, I am SO excited to be starting the school year in my first full-time permanent position in Grade 8 🎉 we may be remote again but I know we’ll make the most of it 🙌🏼

Grade 5s & 6s W.H. Morden Public School spent the week getting to know each other, learning about rotary, co-creating expectations and figuring out their learning styles. We are all set for an amazing year ahead 🥳

Started a writing assignment this week using “If I Built a School” as our mentor text. We brainstormed, organized our ideas and collaboratively edited/revised a paragraph. We decided it needed some work so we will rewrite it tomorrow and use the new one as an exemplar 🎉

We’ve been working on mini-research projects in Science. Each group was assigned a planet and today we went around the room and learned from each other 🪐🔭

Today, we started sharing our “If I Built a School” projects. Students were required to write a paragraph about their dream school and create a poster to advertise it, but we got to see some bonus work as well. These students created Google Sites to advertise their schools 🤩👏🏼

Kicked off “Feel Good Friday” with this video today 🫶🏼

Started a novel today & students are using their assignment menus to plan out their tasks for the week. I record their lessons put them on GC so they can learn & work at their own pace while I pull students for conferences or small group lessons.

This week Grade 6’s used Oreos to review phases of the moon 🍪🌙

Both the boys and girls volleyball teams won their games last night and are moving on to playoffs W.H. Morden Public School! Such a great energy in the gym with both teams cheering each other on 🥹🤍 Shauna Peddle
