The daughter just finally got her degree result and she got a First! So there’s now someone in the family with a Double First from Cambridge, and that’s *weird*… Flashback to the summer, when she sort-of graduated but without a result because of the marking boycott!

Absolute full marks for romance to the lady who proposed to her girlfriend in a punt as it approached the Bridge of Sighs at St John’s College this morning! And she said yes! (They are inadvertently in my photo, before I knew what was happening!)

My parents are visiting us for the first time in years tomorrow. My mother wilts in heat of anything over 20C. The temperatures for while they are here? 30-32C. Of course they are.

Soon there will be nothing left but swirling floodwaters and I’ll be perched on a hill weeping and yelling at retailers ‘If it’s only got 12 days it’s not an Advent calendar…’ .
