Librarians-What trend are you noticing in your libraries so far this school year? Mine is that the kids are NOT into fantasy right now, but mystery and thriller are HOT. Especially April Henry I can't keep her books in stock right now.
I woke up this morning to a news alert that our Girls Who Code middle-grade book series was banned by some school districts as part of the Mom for Liberty effort to ban books. To be honest, I am so angry I cannot breathe. newsweek.com/handmaids-tale…
Last night was my first experience in a room with .Moms for Liberty reading passages from books. I honestly wanted to say “Are you proud of yourself??!” It was so obvious she came with passages printed from the web and had no clue the context of story she referenced. Worse, she lied
Interesting choice by CBS Sunday Morning 🌞 -- my favorite news show btw-- to do an entire segment in book bans that didn't feature one POC, that didn't mention the racial makeup of Moms of Liberty, and that erased the role the targeting of 1619 Project has played in all of this.
Pinch me! I loved THE PASSAGE so much & now I get to be "in conversation" with its author, Justin Cronin (justin cronin). His new book is called THE FERRYMAN. If you live in the Portland area, you won't want to miss this event. If you live anyplace, you won't want to miss this book.
