As protests and calls for police reform continue in Philly and around the country, I wanted to share my remarks from yesterday’s Council meeting. Now’s the time to ask ourselves if it’s equitable for us to be increasing the Police budget by $14M. My answer to that is no.

Board members & Hite claimed that they listened, but if they truly heard us they would have heard the urgency in our demands for action NOW. It’s not just about the vote; the lack of acknowledgment, discussion, or guidelines/suggestions from the board to admin was unacceptable.
