1/2 Every teacher prep program should require urban experiences with deep reflection. Future teachers need a better understanding of their own beliefs about people. As teachers it is our responsibility to see, hear, understand, celebrate, motivate, and teach every kid.

2/2 I grew up w/ 99% white kids. On the contrary, I never had a white student until my 4th year teaching. I just finished my 14th year, all in title buildings. My whole career has been learning how to listen & stand up for others. I’m still learning. We all HAVE to keep learning.
