One of my favorite things to ask kids is "Are you stuck? Or are you thinking?" I do this because it gives them agency in whether or not I support them. Sometimes, kids just need extra time to think--and if we intervene too soon, we diminish their agency.

Standardized tests have no place in elementary education. Because testing becomes the focus of education instead of learning. We take away the fun and excitement of learning, playing, exploring, & creating. We create test takers instead of problem solvers and innovators.

Awful. Beyond tragic. Beyond traumatic that some of these students are facing their 2nd TRAUMA of this. When will we stop accepting this?! Prayers for East Lansing and change that’s overdue.
