The Dot Challenge: 14 index cards and 24 dot stickers. Which team can make the tallest bridge? So impressed how Ss failed forward!

Teachers, want to take something off your plate? Put HW in the trash. Especially for elementary, let students go home, run, play, and enjoy being a child. And read a little after playing. Then they come to school recharged instead of stressed out and you will too!

A real focus on student success would include: * later start time and shorter day * more Arts, Physical Ed. * more recess * More focus on students' strengths * more divergent learning (innovation/ creativity) *less high stakes testing * more fun * celebrate successes

Please don't remove students from physical education, music, Arts, or other classes to remediate them in other areas. These classes are just as important for overall education and may be their favorite classes and one of the reason they actually enjoy school.

Our students need recess, unstructured play, physical education, all the Arts, and their extracurricular activities! That's how we make their social/emotional health a priority and actually increase their academic achievement as well.

Second graders just harvested 27 pints of tomatoes (cherry, orange, yellow pear, tiny treat) and several pints of peppers. Lots of happy, healthy eating from our sustainable Glen Giving Garden!

We always had SEL in schools. It was called recess, play, Music, Art, Physical Education, etc. But now we limit or take them away & then we wonder why students lack social/emotional skills, resiliency, and the ability to connect with others.
