Last week the students created “painted paper” while exploring ways to blend red and yellow with orange, and also added white to create lighter tints of orange. Stay tuned to see the beautiful artwork they created with this “painted paper”!

We’ve been working on patterns in math - exploring repeating, growing and shrinking patterns. We even made patterns in a phys ed game!

We began our measurement unit this week by measuring using different non-standard units (ex: cubes, paper clips, toothpicks).

Moving on from non-standard to standard units of measurement: the class had so much fun using benchmarks to search for items around the school measuring about 1 centimetre or 1 metre!

Last week we combined measurement with technology, as we drew lines with specific lengths for the Ozobots to travel along. Then the students were able to use coloured dots to add a code along the path!

We’ve learned many ways to sort, collect and display data by rolling dice and counting Christmas items. This week we spun spinners to see what colour of Christmas ornaments we should use to “deck the halls”, displayed the data in bar graphs and answered questions about our data!
