Today we took a pause from writing our own nonfiction books to collaborate and write a book “All About Westorchard” for our new friend joining us on Monday! #WOschool

We did it! My class finished a 1000 piece puzzle together! Loved listening to my students working together for a common goal! Now they want me to buy them a bigger one!

Such a fun day in 2nd grade on 2-2-22!

Highlight of the year! Thank you Mary Goff for inviting my students to teach small groups. My 3rd graders prepared lessons on nonfiction note-taking strategies and supported their 2nd grade students as they tried them out. My students were so proud! #WeAreChappaqua

Today my class had a visit from 2 of my former students who are now in 4th grade. They shared a wonderful book called Michelle’s Garden that inspired them to eat healthy! It was so amazing to watch them teach and share an important lesson! #woschool

Scientists on an expedition today in Chappaqua’s Pinecliff Sanctuary!

Today was our 1st CommUNITY day in CCSD. Elem Ss engaged in a read aloud through the lens of identity, reflected upon their own identity markers, discussed similarities/differences w/ buddy classes, & talked about allyship. It was an empowering & inspiring day for all! #WOSchool

Today Westorchard 2nd graders welcomed James Howe! The children loved learning all about being an author and the secrets to where he gets his writing ideas! Thank you to the WOPTA for sponsoring this wonderful event! #woschool

Today we were lucky enough to have a parent in to teach us about the Hindu holiday, Diwali. Students loved listening to a book about the holiday, making a diya and seeing their teacher in a sari.

My class wanted to know how old I was turning on my birthday yesterday! So of course I had to make it into a math problem! #woschool

After learning about different types of habitats in science, students chose to deepen their knowledge by researching a topic of choice. Today they shared their projects through a gallery walk! #sci21 #WOschool

Mrs. Goff’s 2nd graders brought geometry to life in the Makerspace! As part of their shapes unit, students used hands-on materials to build 3D models. Rectangular prisms gave them a challenge—but they rose to it with teamwork and determination! #WeAreChappaqua #WOSchool
