Just read a very heated debate btwn teachers over TKAM’s value in the classroom. Why can’t it just be that we teach critical thinking & criticism using the tools we are passionate about. There’s more than 1 way to skin a cat.

I’m just grateful there are still teachers who use BOOKS. I hate how much I’m pressured to stop. Not everyone will be a reader, but everyone should be shown how books can transform reality & spark thought, at least in the classroom.

Just maybe the solution could be not WHICH ONE novel/lit can we use to discuss x, y, z... but HOW MANY could we compare & discuss x, y, z. But that would mean kids have more accountability & responsibility. I feel like all we do is cut down, simplify & simplify, & pass them on.

Called JDC to check on a student and found out he’s finished a class already on apex! I wish I could tell him how proud I am.
