“Picture books are more than just ink on paper.” Steve Antony, author. Our panel 3 authors, Steve Antony and Patrice Lawrence use picture books as a way to introduce diversity and allow children to see themselves in them.

Patrice Lawrence and I joined Wales Children’s Laureate Alex Wharton and BookTrust Cymru’s Director Sioned Jones for a panel on representation in early years, part of a conference led by Cabinet Secretary for Education Prif Siaradwr.

It was a pleasure to attend the UK Pupil Library Assistant of the Year 2025 awards ceremony yesterday at the Pearson building on The Strand in London yesterday, alongside many authors and illustrators including Philip Ardagh and Jane Elson (pictured here with Annie Everall).
