My all time favourite radio moment came years ago when the presenter of BBC Radio’s 4’s prestigious Today program was left helpless with giggles as she tried to introduce an hilarious item entitled: Should Women Marry Men Who Can’t 💃

A crying shame that after having been derelict for years The Black Bull, Midgley has turned into a horror show despite a £650,000 investment Friends went yesterday for a meal and said staff were incompetent, downright rude and the food when it finally arrived cold and tasteless

A great shame that the Waggon and Horses pub, Outlane, has shut with no real drinking pub in the village and punters having to schlep down to Dusty Miller at Longwood for a pint But on Facebook it says an Italian restaurant will open there next month. Wow!

I’ve very fortunate to have dined at some of the world’s best restaurants, La Tupina, Bordeaux, The Angel at Hetton and The Box Tree at Ilkley most recently but what I really adore is chomping sausage, eggs, beans and chips at The 🍒 🌲 in Huddersfield town centre. Yum 🤤

Absolutely ridiculous that Chelsea star Raheem Sterling has not been selected by the ghastly dull England manager, Gareth Southgate, for its squad. - again! If I was Sterling who has been on 🔥 this season I would decline to be available for selection

Great excitement as TV star Ferne Britton pops into the world’s greatest pub, The Plumbers Arms, Huddersfield town centre for a jar with the boys! Pictured are Ferne, Laura Duggan and Huddersfield’s best stone mason, ‘Glasgow’ Geoff

After all these years I still can’t get over the murder of the former Pakistan Prime Minister,, Benazhir Bhutto, cruelly gunned down by unspeakable cowards I pleaded with her not to return to Pakistan but she was adamant she had to go and paid the shocking price

Absolutely fantastic biography of Spooks star, John le Carre by Adam Sisman! Kill your Granny, murder your wife, destroy your best pal, but whatever you do, cobble together £16.98 for the best read of your life

Happy birthday to Yorkshire’s finest, the altogether wonderful, Isabel Wells! A lovely lady and a great character who I’ve been fortunate to have known for nearly 40 years when she lived across the road from me

My all-time favourite line of English drama was written by the great Elizabethan playwright, Christopher Marlowe: “Was this the face that launched a thousand 🚢” Dr Faustus referencing the most beautiful woman who ever lived, Helen of Troy

Former Tory Cabinet minister Norman Fowler is publishing his diaries during the days when Thatcher and Major were PMs My favourite stories re him go back to the AIDS crisis when he apocryphally had to ask a colleague to explain what oral sex was and what a vibrator was used for

You’re never too old to show signs of love! My lovely mom Margaret, 81, and confusingly for outsiders known as ‘Granny’ places a pillow behind her husband and my 96-years-old stepdad Bob’s head at our home in Edgerton

Been a long time since tears welled up in my peepers but the combination of listening to Unchained Melodies by The Righteous Brothers, the Remembrance Day prelude to Chelsea/Man City saw the floodgates open!

Seeing ex-PM John Major in the news as a pal publishes his diaries reminded me of a hilarious Sunday Telegraph comment mocking his humble origins: “In previous times the only way someone like Major would be seen in 10 Downing Street would be entering fru the back as the butler

Raise a glass if you will to my pal, Dr Oliver, of Outlane, who had a cameo role in the invention of Viagra. The Sunset Times has a great article celebrating 25 years of it though as one of my disgruntled female pals said: “Sex is emotional housework and this was all we needed!”

Robert Sutcliffe It’s a completely different beer. Ram Tam is now Dark Landlord & still 4.3% & the same recipe. The only change is that Dark Mild has gone from 3.5% to 3.4% due to the last Govt’s daft duty changes. Some big breweries have destroyed beers by slashing the %, NOT Timothy Taylor's Brewery! 🍺
