Dear 8th Graders (Class of 2024), You might not be a senior, but this was a big year. We know how much you were looking forward to your Field Trip, outbound trip, last season of JH sports, your concert, Olympics, last few months at WYAMS. We feel it and miss you too!

A1 Students using their assessment to grow, and then having another chance to show what they have learned since the original assessment. #sblchat

A2 One way I try to turn summative assessments into an opportunity for reassessment is through the use of test/quiz corrections. This shows students have learned from their mistakes. This works very well in a curriculum that revisits topics several times. #sblchat

A3 IMO reassessment and formative assessment are very closely related. By constantly reassessing needed skills through the formative stage of assessment we make sure students have the best shot at success when it is time for high-stakes summative assessment. #sblchat

A5 While I give all my students the opportunity for reassessments, I do ask that they complete homework/classwork between the assessments to prove they are actively working on learning new information. #sblchat

A6 I believe in giving a student who makes a mistake a second chance, especially in a middle school setting. However, if cheating becomes a habit I also believe that sometimes the only way students and adults learn is by facing the consequences of their actions #sblchat
