I regret not doing more to support and defend Brendan then. I should have realized what it meant and what was to follow. I do not intend to make that mistake again.

The NYT is struggling to manage its employees again.

“Newsroom leaders, concerned that some Times journalists are compromising their neutrality and applying ideological purity tests to coverage decisions, are seeking to draw a line.”

Executive Editor Joe Kahn blames colleges:

To restore a government small enough to fit within the Constitution, we need Members of Congress committed to the Constitution.

These are the 86 Republicans and 126 Democrats who want the government to spy on Americans. The 4th Amendment says get a warrant. They say, NO.

This is how the Constitution dies.

By a tie vote, the amendment to require a warrant to spy on Americans goes down in flames.

This is a sad day for America.

The Speaker doesn’t always vote in the House, but he was the tie breaker today. He voted against warrants.

This is the most critical point in this excellent piece from J.D. Vance:

'Ukraine’s challenge is not the G.O.P.; it’s math. Ukraine needs more soldiers than it can field, even with draconian conscription policies. And it needs more matériel than the United States can provide.'💯

More Democrats (126) voted against the FISA 702 warrant requirement than Republicans (86) which is really kind of wild if you think historically about this. The GOP has come a long way from GW Bush (thank goodness).

This is an important piece. To date, the debate has been framed as 'without this aid, Ukraine will lose.'

The right question is 'With this aid, can Ukraine win?' And that should only come after a serious answer to 'What is the US interest at stake here?'

Fahrenheit, inches, and feet are human measurements. Thank God the Anglo-American world stands against the cold, sterile, inhuman scale of the metric system. The American Revolution is superior to the French Revolution, in every way.

'If that sounds bad, Ukraine’s manpower situation is even worse...Ukraine needs upward of half a million new recruits...The average Ukrainian soldier is roughly 43 years old...the Ukrainian military attempted to conscript a man with diagnosed mental disability.'

'Take the Patriot missile system — our premier air defense weapon...The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, and others have indicated they need thousands of Patriot interceptors per year. The problem is this: The United States only manufactures 550 every year.'

'Consider our ability to produce 155-millimeter artillery shells...We’ve roughly doubled our capacity and can now produce 360,000 per year — less than a tenth of what Ukraine says it needs.'

US IS doing more than Europe. Pledges are not actual material help.

If Europe can do it all, then what is the need for US to be there anyway.
