This is a very positive & welcome step towards much-needed more fundamental reform Bridget Phillipson Off the back of the proper funding of teacher & support staff pay & a sensible start to curriculum reform, this feels like a real partnership between schools, trusts & government.

The end of single-word overall #Ofsted judgements is ‘a champagne moment’, says Heads' Roundtable chair @morsecat, but much work lies ahead to make sure the reformed inspection system works for schools tes.com/magazine/analy…

Even more positive steps released today regarding Ofsted I feel in particular the call only on Monday will relieve so much stress and anxiety for those expecting an inspection. Thank you to Tes for this useful breakdown. Thoughts?

Brilliant. Actually being a teacher, I am fluent in this stuff, although I pretend not to be when children try it out on me of course.

The report on Ofsted's response to Ruth Perry's suicide, for which it was overwhelmingly responsible, is SHOCKING. There is no moral difference whatever between Ofsted's managers and those of the Post Office.

Ofsted has published Christine Gilbert's review, and its response to it, only as appendixes to its response to its "Big Listen" consultation exercise. Why not put the review, and its response to it, prominently on its homepage?

This finding is pretty damning. Culture is not tackled by cosmetic changes. The real experience of headteachers during inspections needs close monitoring this term to see if the changes have made any difference. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

‘#Ofsted needs to clean up its culture: become kinder, fairer and more reflective’: the chair of Heads' Roundtable says the watchdog still has a lot of work to do to remove stress and negativity from the inspection system tes.com/magazine/analy…

Each and every one of us with a platform has a responsibility to correct others on the truth about asylum seekers claiming benefits and free homes. They can’t. They receive just £49 a week or £9 if given food. Only if and when they get refugee status can they claim or get a job.

It staggers me how much he agrees that the country is in a right mess and how little he thinks he is responsible for any of that. Good character is about taking responsibility for your actions. The Post Office, Grenfell, and Ofsted scandals all smack of the same malaise.

Every time I talk to anyone at the DfE I notice how much happier they are than they were a year ago. Of course they could not possibly comment, but it is there and it makes me happy to see it in their eyes.

The Big Listen has dominated the headlines but we think the Gilbert Review has even more to offer. Our thoughts on the independent learning review and why it must not go unnoticed. #edutwitter #headteacherchat headrestuk.co.uk/blog/dear-secr…

The measure is flawed, but the big progress gap is an EAL one. White working class progress is much poorer than the progress of those with EAL. Social class is a bigger barrier than second language acquisition. That’s the difference between Essex and London P8. That and funding.

So do we have an Upstairs Downstairs cat situation going on in Downing Street, whereby Larry is Chief Mouser whereas Prince is the pampered family fluffball? Larry the Cat These are the things the nation needs to know.
