Church of Christ the King, Turners Cross, Cork (1927-31). Humdinger of an art deco church by Barry Byrne, explaining its mid-western pizzazz - although I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it. Glorious.

"To walk into one of these buildings, especially alone, is to ache with a kind of exquisite sympathy: one solitary meeting another." An extract from Steeple Chasing – on elegiac pleasure & the work of Friendless Churches – is the cover story of Church Times. churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2023/…

Mid 13th-century choirstalls from Split Cathedral. They’re formed of 8,224 individual pieces, and if you get up close enough and to the right angle, a decent amount of polychromy survives. I was delighted to spot a miniature woodworker looking out from one of the panels.

We did it. We’ve rescued St James’s, Llangua in Monmouthshire. In this short video, our Director, Rachel Morley, shares a quick overview of this remarkable project.
