I've always got a plan. It doesn't always work out in the timeline I set, but it does work out, eventually.

I was feeling so unmotivated today, as even my days off lately have been filled with appointments requiring early morning wake-ups. My husband wanted to go out and do something as a family, like a zoo trip or a visit to a botanical garden. But I was tired. So after relaxing at

My husband and I both had the day off, so we took our son to the Zoo. No more elephants (they left for another zoo over the winter), and the langur exhibit was closed. The meerkats were nowhere to be found. But one of the seals was hanging out right near the glass, and following

A few years after 911, I discovered my spring-assist boxcutter in my purse when I was going through it at my mom's house... I'd just flown in from Florida and had forgotten to remove it before going to the airport. TSA had completely missed it. Made sure to put it in my checked

You know you work in a desert area when you find that your car has been attacked by a tumbleweed when you leave for the day. I have seen a larger one making is way down the highway in the morning... can they do real damage at larger sizes?

I think people are really just this way, now. I had a childhood friend really struggling around Christmas one year, and she was sad that she could only afford the essentials, so her kids wouldn't be getting any Christmas presents. I took her shopping and bought a few presents

Well, I can guarantee that this pharmacist will treat all patients with the utmost care, regardless of politics. I didn't swear an oath to take care of some of my patients, or those patients that I liked, but to serve all my patients to the best of my ability.

I had to have an emergency gallbladder removal... turned out that I had 6 half-dollar sized gallstones (plus a bunch of smaller ones) in my gallbladder, and it was nearly double the size it should have been. This, after 2 years of gallbladder attacks, some of which were so bad

I read an article a few years ago where the author said that if you really don't like an ingredient in your food, you should just tell the waiter that you're allergic to it, and they'll take it seriously. Do people do this with medications at triage??? If you'd like to avoid

Regarding incorrect medication allergies... another issue is education on the difference between a true ALLERGY and a medication SIDE EFFECT. This past few weeks, I've been seeing patient profiles with 6-15 allergies listed, and while some people may truly be hypersensitive, when

Gah. Amazon has really been slipping lately. Yet another order supposed to be here when I woke up, pushed back to the 7-11 window, now expected tomorrow by 6, when I'll be at work. Not that I don't trust my neighbors, but I don't trust everyone who drives by throughout the day.

Shopping with my son yesterday when he requested "doots". No idea what he meant for some time, until I finally got him to elaborate to "orange doots."

Wow! Thanks for the follows, everyone! Just got home from a 10- hour shift and a quick stop by the gym... following back as I'm able!

As an inpatient pharmacist, I really do recommend that you carry a printout of all your medications (keep it current!, with medication names, strengths, doses, and frequency taken, in your glovebox with your insurance and registration information. Bonus if you include allergies!

What is all this "I'd like to speak to the owner of this account" crap??? I keep getting these messages... are these the bots people keep talking about?

Happy Monday, everyone! Off now for 3 consecutive days! Going to stay home most of today... there's laundry and lots of cleaning to do. My son's first ever dance class is tomorrow (he dances all the time on his own right now, so at least he can learn some moves!), but other than

Well... the first dance class was a mixed success. He wouldn't enter the room at all for the first 10 minutes, then refused to move from the entrance for the next 20 (with me standing next to him - if I'd left, we would have had a melt-down on our hands). Then he started moving a

One of our pharmacists is leaving this month... so I'm going to start training in the ER. Exciting, and intimidating... so now I'll be working the ER, doing the monthly floor inspections and Narcotic inventory, and filling in with the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program... love it!

We went out as a family to look at a house today. Just to look, because I don't think my credit is that great, but we certainly pay plenty every month in rent. After some discussion, the realtor said we actually would qualify for a loan... so maybe it's time to get serious!
