Still in love with this data from 2024 @GRDC Canola Establishment. Grain yield declined by ~0.2t/ha (0r about 4-5%) per week that emergence was delayed after 4 April at Wynarka. The different water amounts or plant numbers established didn't matter - timing trumps density :)

It’s a good feeling when you’re in a crowd of 80 farmers and their consultant is using your trial data to support their advice. Data from the GRDC South Profitable Yield Frontiers project highlights the opportunities in a tough season from well managed systems. Kenton Porker

Vic & SA growers with sandy soils in the low and medium rainfall zones are rapidly adopting strategic soil amelioration. And with good reason. The practices are backed by trial data and research from across the region. The research has resulted in a comprehensive manual to help

Up and away with this year’s trial program. Spreading lime for an another large paddock scale trial at Walpeup as part of the GRDC South Sandy Soils project. Measuring soil amelioration responses across paddock zones. Never had to buy trial site inputs by the road train before😬

Plant 2025 underway for GRDC Canola Establishment. Last year we could establish crops on between 5-10mm of water at this time of year. This year …. I think it’s going to take more! Back in 4 days ….

Awesome footage by Stacey from Stacey Solomon of the Ag. Machinery R&D Centre - AMRDC Active Inclusion Ripping system working in the Vic Mallee. We are combining this with nutrition treatments to build fertility and push yield frontiers for the GRDC South #sandysoils project Therese Mcbeath Kenton Porker

After 2 tough starts we’ve established a network of 7 coordinated long-term Sandy Soil Amelioration experiments across SE Aus. Huge thanks to the team + GRDC for backing this ambitious program šŸ™Œ Big Qs: How do we feed the new potential? How do we sustain it longer?

Pulses are getting cracking at our ⁦GRDC North⁩ NSW Mallee⁩ trial site. Early establishment & sub soil moisture is providing useful yield potential with just 70mm of rainfall. The faba beans are indicating 2-3 weeks of moisture leftšŸ˜‰ ⁦Rohan Brill⁩ ⁦Graeme Sandral⁩
