I don't think Putin thinks this because he is too paranoid and conspirological, but if he gave it any thought, I imagine he'd be furious to realize that Zelensky, a young comedian with 3 years of political experience, is a more natural and popular leader than Putin will ever be.

Civilians are walking around in Kyiv with automatic weapons like they are casually having a smoke. Everyone that can pull a trigger is ready to fight. Malcolm Nance said this place will become the “White Taliban” for Russian troops and from what I see he isn’t lying.
