We combined #AlphaFold and #cryoEM to build a new model of the nuclear pore complex, the largest complex in the human cell! The structure covered by the model is 15x bigger than the human ribosome and 2x bigger than old nuclear pore models. 1/7 Read how: biorxiv.org/content/10.110โ€ฆ

In our article published today nature , we report complete all-atom structural models of a fully packaged bacteriophage particle. Congratulations to Kush Coshic on his first publication! Many thanks to Chris Maffeo and David Winogradoff for pushing this 6-year project forward.

Multiple packaging simulations produced globally different conformations of the packaged genome, suggesting that the packaging process itself gives mature virions individual traits encoded by the topology of its genome.

To truly understand biology, students need to be exposed to accurate visualizations, see the big picture, and learn from the right perspective. Let's make that happen. Learn more at smart-biology.com #biology #science #EdTech #animation #3D

Ahhh this guys ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. I just hope this one is a natural evolving virus and not a highly artificially evolved virus that binds and activates in almost all tissues of the human body with high affinity. Coronaviruses are mild compared to influenza viruses and evolve faster!

In most biology classrooms each student can have their own interpretation for how things work especially with systems and processes. Our animated lessons bring those to life exactly the way they happen so everyone is on the same page with understanding. smart-biology.com

And people think we live in a simulation and that we are just AI. There is no point in simulating such complexity, and it gets even more complex once you get inside the cell. Imagine the computational power required to simulate every living thing on the Universe.
