Starting our day with salamander yoga! We talked about how we felt after and found our feelings on our mood meter. Some feelings shared were: calm, positive, focused.

We read On the Trapline today. Then we shared our thoughts, feelings, reactions, wonderings, and appreciations. We enjoyed learning about life living on the trapline and we also enjoyed learning some words in Cree with this book.

Math challenge: Can you build a bird’s nest with 50 sticks and blades of dried grass? What if you had to make 12 nests? How many sticks would that take? We are in awe of birds! How do they do it? Science connection: What kind of soil would help? HDSB Math #outdoorlearning

Today we followed up with our science inquiry from yesterday. It turns out topsoil helps with nest building more than sand. We compared the two and tested them out. Problem-solving, collaboration, inquiry! Take Me Outside #outdoorlearning

Building + art + math

Today we collected soil samples in jars and then filled the jars with water. Right away we noticed evidence of air inside the dirt because we saw lots of bubbles come to the surface! I wonder what we’ll discover tomorrow after it all has some time to settle! #outdoorlearning

It’s #TakeMeOutsideDay! We are spending our entire day outside! We began by taking a quiet moment to appreciate nature and then played a game from the TMO workshop last night about connecting to nature through indigenous teachings. P.L. Robertson
