The day of action at #SussexUni today was all about raising awareness of Mitie as a company and the shameful partnership between Mitie and University of Sussex. It was hugely successful. We had lots of great conversations and a lot of support was received. #WorkersInMitieOut!

This is great, and hopefully the first of many. Universities can, and must, divest our money from the border industry, and stop financing these terrible companies.

Dozens of young children are being held at Manston detention camp in Kent. Mothers, fathers, children and babies from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and elsewhere. We went today and heard them chanting for their freedom. This is persecution. FREE THEM AND CLOSE IT DOWN.

The camp is highly securitised and isolated - surrounded by fences, police and security personnel. Mitie - known for managing violent detention centres - runs the camp, while other companies such as MCT - known for brutalising children in youth jails - provide security.

I wanted to send one final message to the University Executive Group & the Vice Chancellor Prof Sasha Roseneil. As I crossed the stage at my graduation, I wore a sign saying ‘MITIE OFF CAMPUS’. The Mitie Must Fall fight will continue until MITIE IS OFF CAMPUS.
