Letter sent to parents today. My guess is that most secondary Headteachers could say something similar (and probably have)

I'm going to have some capacity over the next couple of weeks to make some good progress with this.

I've put together an extremely rough draft of the contents - any thoughts on the contents would be appreciated.

I massively underestimated the amount of people that would want a copy of the worksheets I make. I literally cannot keep up with the DMs. To make things easier, I have uploaded all of my guided reading resources to my TES page. tes.com/teaching-resou…

Late post, but this is a chem activity I look forward to every year! Students must count the number of atoms in their drawing 🤯😱🫣

How is this possible?!
- weigh chalk before/after drawing
- assume chalk is pure CaSO4
- convert grams to moles to atoms!

Spent some time looking at GPT4 for making worksheets.

I'm redundant now. It's actually good.

Final worksheet in the last image - probably would need one or more tweaks but it's *very* functional and took like 2 minutes.

*Four Papers every ECT and Mentor should Read*

Recently, I've been thinking a lot about what early careers teachers should know about how they develop.

Here are four papers that sum up some key ideas:

I created a Science retrieval and revision strategies booklet for our Y11 ahead of the impending mocks and GCSEs! Tried to include as many researched based methods as possible (bits pinched from Kate Jones InnerDrive Impact ) 🧪🧬🧠📝

I've made a world cup reading competition. Each country in the tournament is represented by a text, might be a book, news article, poetry or extract from a book. Students read one & earn points for their form in our school world cup. If it sounds useful, lemme know & I'll share.

Don't give your kids an allowance.

Pay them interest instead.

I made a system that naturally instills the power of compounding and makes them understand money.

Here's how it works, my downloadable worksheet, and the results:

A couple of weeks ago we had an icebreaker during my graduate seminar and the question was 'What is your irrational fear?' My answer was 'hammerhead sharks'. And today in class I walked in and saw this:

The simplest tasks can make for excellent retrieval practice. This game of Noughts and Crosses was very well received and appealed to their competitive nature. Students liked being asked to retrieve knowledge from their previous unit.

Was chatting with a colleague today and we were looking at how to use this flowchart to improve both our circulation. It's a bit messy at first, but makes sense when you get stuck in I think. May be useful!
