During British Science Week Class 6 have explored the book ‘Izzy Jones’s Quantum World’ and set up an enquiry and investigation based upon her experiences! #sjsbscience Great Science Share for Schools StJoseph StBede RCPS


This week in Maths Class 6 have been learning how to calculate perimeter. We created lots of different compound shapes using numicon and measured the total distance around them! StJoseph StBede RCPS #sjsbmaths

Class 6 have been looking after our common home during St Bede’s Week. We talked about how we can improve our environment and got to work gardening, starting by pulling all of the weeds up! A great effort from the children 🍃 #LaudatoSi #sjsbCLM StJoseph StBede RCPS


This morning Class 6 have been shopping! We found the price of items on the leaflet and calculated their combined costs, as well as working out the change we would be given. Lots of mathematical thinking and strategies being used, super effort Class 6! #sjsbmaths StJoseph StBede RCPS




Class 6 celebrated #WorldMusicDay by exploring storytelling through ballads, which inspired us to write and perform our own class ballad! We then spent time listening to Jazz music, creating doodle art based on how the music made us feel #sjsbmusic StJoseph StBede RCPS 🎶

This morning Class 6 had the opportunity to meet and question artist Caroline Coates who is in school painting our St Theresa ‘Missionaries of Kindness’ Bench. At the end of the session, she invited us all to leave our mark on it. We can’t wait to see the end result! #sjsbart 🎨


Class 6 had a brilliant time at Sports Day, working together as a team and cheering each other on! We are very proud of the amazing sportsmanship they all showed 🌟#sjsbpe StJoseph StBede RCPS


This week in forest school we built pavilions to shelter toads, made potions in the mud kitchen, crushed up fruit to make lollies, played on the rope swing and had a sing song with the instruments! In science we’ve been investigating whether having a longer femur helps us jump further. We found that it wasn’t always the longest femurs that jumped the furthest and concluded other factors matter, such as muscle strength and jump technique StJoseph StBede RCPS #sjsbscience 💪🏼🦴

In RE, Class 6 have been learning about the martyrdom of Saint Oscar Romero and the legacy he left behind. To honour him, we created beautiful Romero crosses with designs inspired by his activism and faith in Jesus #sjsbRE #sjsbclm StJoseph StBede RCPS


To conclude our Bury topic, this morning LKS2 walked into the town centre. We used our sketch maps to identify landmarks such as Robert Peel’s Statue and Bury Parish Church before spending time in the library and art gallery StJoseph StBede RCPS #sjsbgeography #fieldwork
