I’m excited to announce that I’ve accepted the Director of Advanced Academics position for KIPP Texas. I’m grateful for Tiffany Neal M.Ed. who has always encouraged me to grow and be my best self. I’ll miss my team, but I’m excited for new challenges! 🤍 Last one: #KellerLiteracy

You know you’ve taken the right job when you’re spending your morning discussing: Excellence, empathy, equity-mindedness, empowerment. KIPP Public Schools #equity #advancedacademics

I want to make it clear the administrators, teachers, librarians, & staff are NOT to blame for the extremist takeover & book banning in Keller Schools. Its our 4 extremist school board Members who are funded by right wing PACs.They brought the political culture wars to my children.

Zeroes don’t reveal anything about student learning. They’re punitive. Grades are meant to provide a picture of student understanding. Accountability matters. But accountability doesn’t have to mean zeroes. #unpopularopinion #SorryNotSorry #education #teachertwitter #educhat

I had a guy friend with a Ph.D in engineering ask me last week how women pee with a tampon in and this is why men shouldn’t be passing laws about women’s bodies.

At the airport flying home from a work trip and we’re delayed due to weather. People are being absolute a-holes. Flight attendants don’t control the weather, y’all. Be better.

Folks in a private Facebook group say I have a “girl crush” on Lucy Calkins. 🤷‍♀️ I just like research based, quality instruction. Keyboard crusaders are cute. Keep hiding in your groups feigning support for teachers. I’ll be over here teaching kids to read.✌️#kellerisd #tcrwp

I will say this with absolute certainty: spending the first few classes pulling each student aside, talking to them individually, and getting to know them and their interests is the best “classroom management” hack there is.

Eldest daughter: “Mom! The best part of my day was that Mr. *** said my name right! It’s like he practiced so he could say it correctly.” Never underestimate the power of pronouncing student names properly. It matters ❤️ #TVDSBFirstDay #TeacherTwitter

Unpopular opinion: late work policies are for teachers, not students. They do nothing to support organization/planning. They are punitive & misaligned to student outcomes & success. They offer nothing in the way of measuring student learning. #teachertwitter #IsaidWhatisaid

When we stop unrealistically demanding kids and teens to behave like full grown adults, we can actually teach and guide them toward success as they mature into adulthood. #teachertwitter #education

This is not the answer. I greatly respect veterans. However, being a veteran doesn’t qualify you to teach the same way being a teacher doesn’t qualify you to go to combat. This is doesn’t address the issues that are CAUSING the teacher shortage. 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️

I’m a little salty today. If your teaching centers around the use of “packets,” YOU’RE DOING IT WRONG. This is 2023. We know better. I’m embarrassed by some of things we’re still doing in the classroom. Fight me. ✌️
