City of Mishawaka’s Dodge Expeditionary Force completed final walk thru of Dodge manufacturing complex before we buy & take possession of 22 acre site. Hot, stinky & dirty but otherwise no casualties! Legacy site will begin to play a prominent role in Princess City’s future.

With a heavy heart, we say goodbye to retired MPD Asst. Chief, business owner, family man, Mishawaka institution & great American, Quinto Squadroni. I ordered flags to half staff in honor of his service. I can’t imagine Mishawaka without him in it. Rest in peace, my friend.

Mishawaka honors the sacrifices of our vets year round. Today is my favorite event, Wreaths Across America. Volunteers lay wreaths at headstones of vets in our cemeteries. I placed wreaths at my 2 grandpas & one great-grandpa, all US Army vets. Special holiday tradition for me.

Best football game of the year today. My favorite. America’s game; the only game where everyone playing is willing to die for everyone watching. Go Navy, Go Army!

Very sad about the passing of my friend & hero, President Jimmy Carter. I served as his Crew Leader on many Habitat projects around the world. He called me his “token Republican”. I learned a lot from this great man. My proudest professional moment was welcoming him to Mishawaka.

“Hoosiers” moment today in Mishawaka as the MHS Maroons played the Brazil Red & Whites as they did 100 years ago in the first game played in Indiana’s oldest active gym. The Cave was poppin. Almost felt like 1924 with old-school bball, throwback uniforms & great pep band music.

Mishawaka contributes much to Hoosier basketball lore. Two reasons for that are Coach Hecklinski & my friend, LeRoy Johnson, class of ‘57. LeRoy is Mishawaka’s all-time leading scorer & played for Branch McCracken at IU. Both being inducted into Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.

I’m VERY proud of Mishawaka Fire Dept for their quick response & hard work in discovering & putting out fire at Mill Ph II. Thankfully no injuries. We hire the best & plan for the worst. It’s moments like this when that really matters. Thanks to SB, Clay & Penn FDs for assisting

Potholes are the mortal enemies of mayors. Thankfully Mishawaka has less than most. One recently popped up on LWE (a State Hwy) that was quite revealing. That’s electric street car railing from a hundred years ago. As cool as that is, it still has to be patched for safe travel.

Widespread storm damage reported in Mishawaka. Scattered power outages, fallen trees blocking roads, many traffic signals not working. Please stay off roads unless emergency. Crews working round the clock restoring power & cleaning storm damage. Be safe & lend a neighbor a hand.

Mishawaka Utilities Electric crews responding to widespread outages. We have a plan & making good progress. Some areas have significant issues such as downed utility poles. Please be patient. We’ll be working through the night. Hope to have most power restored by tomorrow.

Mishawaka street crews will be working through the night clearing downed trees prioritizing main roads, then streets near schools then neighborhoods. Watch out for traffic signals not working & treat them as 4-way stops. We are out placing temp stop signs at intersections.

Most Mishawaka roads now open & clear of fallen trees thanks to rapid response of Street Dept. 12th St still closed due to 12 fallen utility poles. Stay clear of power lines. MU Crews will work through the night to replace poles & restore power to greater Reverewood neighborhood.

Significant, unexpected power outage affecting Mishawaka south side & downtown due to loss of power coming into city. 4 major substations down. We’re working with AEP to restore electric power feed into city. Mishawaka Utilities Electric Div. assisting where we can.

Most power restored in Mishawaka! MU was able to backfill and restore power to 4 substation as a temporary solution. AEP is aware of the problem with the feed on their end and is working on a permanent fix.

All electric power has been restored in Mishawaka! 11 crews working 16 hr shifts for 5 days responding to biggest storm to hit city since Palm Sunday, 1965. It was a massive effort & I couldn’t be more proud of our MU linemen. They’re headed home for some much needed sleep.

Shout out to our friends at Hoosier Edison & Bancroft Electric for sending 5 & 2 crews of linemen respectively to assist Mishawaka Utilities in restoring electric power to the Princess City. We simply couldn’t have done it without their mutual aid & support. Thank you muchly!
