Would love to know whether Salman Rushdie had known about Ignatius for years or whether/where he came across him while thinking about his character named after Cervantes’s Sancho?
Dr. Miranda Kaufmann Salman Rushdie I'd be amazed if he hadn't known about him for many decades. Pretty sure Rushdie was one of the quotes on my original 1984 copy of Staying Power. Can't check because I gave it away & not at home to look up my later edition.
