This afternoon several members from local RSL’s came together to judge the annual Spirit of the ANZAC competition.
 
There were wonderful entries from school students from across our area. Thank you to all who participated and to the judges for giving your time this afternoon.

This morning I Joined Woodcrest State College in Springfield for their ANZAC Day service with Charis Mullen

Staff and students commemorated this important day in our national calendar by hosting a moving ceremony in the school hall. Lest we forget.

This morning I met with the AEC ✏️ Commissioner, Tom Rogers to accept the return of the Cook by-election writ.

The new Member for Cook, Simon Kennedy will be admitted to the House in the next sitting week.

Today I visited the Buddhist Youth Association as they met at the Phat Da Temple in Inala with Margie Nightingale

It's always great to catch up with my friends from the World Malayalee Association Queensland to celebrate the Sangamam cultural festival with Shayne Neumann Emily Kim - Labor Councillor for Calamvale Ward
 
The entertainment, food and dancing were fantastic. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible.

This afternoon I joined a number of local colleagues including Charis Mullen and Senator Paul Scarr for the Islamic Council of Queensland Eid Festival at the Rocklea Showgrounds.
 
Eid is a special celebration for those from the Islamic faith from across our community.

Always terrific to support the Anglican Parish St Hughs of Inala in their Cent Auction with Margie Nightingale today.
 
The church has been an important part of Inala for many years and continues to provide support to those in need.

I stopped by Springfield Bunnings with Charis Mullen to support AEIOU Foundation as they ran their Saturday sausage sizzle fundraiser.
 
The team at Camira do excellent work supporting kids in our community living with autism. The sausages def hit the spot. 👏👏👏

It was great to see some familiar faces and meet new people who were keen to catch up.

This week I was delighted to be invited as the guest speaker to attend the St Catherine’s Men’s Fellowship monthly meeting and the Sherwood Probus Club.
Great to catch up with locals and talk to members about the role of Speaker in the Federal Parliament.

For 164 years The Toowoomba Royal Show has showcased the best of the Darling Downs.

Honoured to present awards alongside President Shane Charles on day One and meet with terrific local residents, Garth Hamilton MP, & Agricultural & Livestock producers today.

This afternoon I met up with members from the Dutch Club NAQ Brisbane as they continue to make preparations for one of the biggest Dutch celebrations of the year, King’s Day.

I was honoured to accept their kind invitation to become their new Patron.

Today it was great to get out to Springfield with Cr Nicole Jonic and Paul Tully Media 🇦🇺 for the unveiling of the plaque for the Man Walk at the Robelle Lagoon. The Springfield Mo Men have done a fantastic job of building connection in the Springfield community through their weekly walks

Today the Australian Flag flies at half mast, mourning the tragic loss of lives in Bondi Junction on Saturday.

We honour the innocent victims, and we send our heartfelt sympathy to their families who are grieving.

Yesterday, Bondi Junction was the scene of horrific violence – but also selfless courage and bravery.

Today this community has come together to mourn the victims of this devastating atrocity and offer its sympathy to those who have lost loved ones.

Truly tragic news. Thoughts are with the loved ones of lives lost and the brave first responders in NSW.

Great to meet with Malcolm and Laurie from Cycling Without Age Brisbane West Chapter. I’m looking forward to support the work of this international movement that has founded a local community group that is encouraging everyone to get out and experience the great bike paths 🚲

Great to meet with local workers at the Protonautics facility in Wacol today with Anthony Albanese after visiting Rheinmetall
where we saw first hand the massive investment in our Defence force industry at Redbank 🇦🇺
