In Tox we often debate when to use “expensive” drugs like fomepizole (~$1000/vial) & antivenoms (~$1200 to $3200/vial). I have long said these as “expensive but not cancer drug expensive”. Now our P&T is discussing 2 heme-onc drugs @ $2.2 M & $3.1 M per infusion!

Colleagues at Oklahoma Poison Center describe acute hypersensitivity reactions to snake antivenom ( #crofab & #anavip ) with + alpha-gal IgE. Ask your patients if they have problems with red meat before giving AV.
