I was delighted to find this as my in-flight reading for today.

There's always been a fight over the true story of America. I believe deeply in the story that says we’re all created equal, and that if we can treat each other with decency and respect, all of us will be better off.

You should be so lucky to have people throughout your research career that you can openly bounce ideas to and from - especially if they complement your strengths in your areas of weakness - it is a rare and precious gift.

In 1992 Peter Ratcliffe received this rejection letter from Nature. His findings were not "a sufficient advance in our understanding". 27 years later he won the Nobel Prize for the same discovery. Don't lose faith in the things you believe in.
