A fantastic show by Griff tonight at the Playhouse. Thanks so much to the lovely Liverpool audience for giving him such a great reception and thanks to all at Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse theatres. Here we are afterwards as captured by The Ragged Trousered Philatelist. Me looking a bit anguished as ever!

Mike Haskins Hi Mike ⁩ a while back I wrongly thought that Albert Finney had directed Entertaining Mr Sloane. I found the programmes & Finney directed Loot. I thought you’d be interested. Look at the price of tickets Best wishes

The day before, George had failed get the right train tickets and had to drive Spike from London to Yorkshire, about 200 miles, in three hours. After they arrived, Spike said “Don’t ever ask me to ride with you again.” (The M1 had no speed limits at the time)

Top work as ever from Phil Oates - where in Heswall exactly did Ringo spend two years of his youth and discover his love of drumming?

Just found this online - it looks like a genuine poster from 1962 advertising The Beatles at the Thistle Cafe on Banks Road, West Kirby, Wirral on 1 February 1962 (the first show for which Brian Epstein took a commission) The pic is cut out from Mersey Beat 4 January 62

25 April 1965 the musical Half a Sixpence starring Tommy Steele opened at the Broadhurst Theatre on Broadway. Some way down the cast list was a young John Cleese
